The aims to activate a confrontation between the players in an import/export chain that is fundamental to start a commercial and cultural channel between Emilia-Romagna and the Middle East.

It comes after a first stage (“A bridge to the East”) held in Italy on November 25, focused on knowledge of the context, which saw the “Emilia Romagna Mercati Rete Di Imprese” (which brings together the Centers Agribusiness of Parma, Bologna, Cesena and Rimini) and experts in logistics and shipping.

On the occasion of the Expo Dubai event, the goal is to meet with local importers, freight forwarders and exporters, with the added value of doing it in the field, thanks to the knowledge acquired during the first trip to the Emirates carried out by the Market Network in December.

The working day will develop in such a way as to involve the operators present from the early afternoon to the gala dinner with insights into the values of healthiness and quality and with tasting of the products, in such a way as to be able to appreciate the texture, flavor and aroma.

The day will be characterized by technical and convivial moments, always in the name of presenting the best of our fruit and vegetables, associated in some cases with the gastronomic excellences of the regional territory, with the aim of activating a possible marketing channel with our interlocutors of these products, discussing details and methods.

The event “Data Valley meets EXPO” presents the Emilia-Romagna Region as a leader in digital and technological transformation through knowledge, research and innovation in the field of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. 

The Bologna Big Data Technopole has acquired a relevant international reputation for the extraordinary concentration of supercomputing capacity available and for the presence of an ecosystem made of research, businesses, education and training that makes it unique on a European and international level. 

This calculation capacity is essential to seize the opportunities deriving from the application of data-based technologies, starting from Artificial Intelligence, in various areas relevant to the economy, the protection of assets and the lives of citizens.

The event “Data Valley meets EXPO” integrates four dimensions: 

• Evocative dimension: the transformation from a manufacturing economy to a digital economy seen through the redevelopment of abandoned industrial areas that become places of knowledge and innovation where data are the ‘raw material’
• Technical dimension: supercomputing and the new frontiers of Quantum as tools for technological growth with enormous potential
• Applicative dimension: supercomputing for the environment and climate, health and well-being, innovation in industry, advanced scientific research
• Informative dimension: the data economy and its impact on the lives of citizens and communities

The event is organised in  two moments:

1. Technical-scientific forum, which presents the birth and development of the Bologna Big Data Technopole, its scientific value, its potential for international attraction, as well as a selection of applications. Representatives of the European Commission, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Ministry of University and Research, as well as international experts will intervene. The Forum will be held in the Amphitheatre and Studio, Italy Pavilion.

2. Dissemination and networking event, addressed to the widest audience of Expo participants to bring the public closer to the contents dealt within the Forum and discuss possible collaborations and activities with the attendees. The event will be held at the Cibus Pavilion “M-EAting Italy.

Clust-ER Mechatronics and Motoristics organizes a mission to EXPO, during the Travel & Connectivity thematic week, with the aim of representing the ability to collaborate in the development of innovative projects between companies and industrial research laboratories of the regional High Technology Network.

The projects were selected through a call for interest dedicated to the members of the Clust-ER MECH. The mission will be attended by four companies and four laboratories that have collaborated or are collaborating in the development of four projects in the fields of sustainable mobility, autonomous driving and applications in the Industry 4.0 (predictive maintenance) field.

The mission includes:

• B2B meetings with delegation representatives in a dedicated and personalized space
• an event to present the projects and the Clust-ER MECH
• the visit to a research and innovation center related to the reference issues of Clust-ER MECH

The objectives of the mission are the generation of collaboration opportunities for companies and laboratories in the network with UAE or other countries’ interlocutors and the promotion of the attractiveness of the territory in the reference areas for investment, research and training actions.

The mission takes place in conjunction with the Thematic Business Forum Travel & Connectivity (January 12th), the Emilia-Romagna Regional Day and the Forum on Artificial Intelligence (both January 13th).
